A Collapsable Water Bowl – Don’t Hike Without It

We talk about dog friendly hiking here a lot because we do a lot of hiking. One of the very first things we realized was that we needed to carry something to help keep our dog, Abbey, hydrated. Personally I carry a water bottle almost everywhere I go. I even carry it around in my own home because I know how important it is to stay hydrated. Abbey, as well as other dogs, do not have this luxury and so we needed to find an alternative solution for her. After doing some research I found the perfect solution: a collapsable water bowl.

The Solution

We’ve been using the same collapsable water bowl for over a year and it is hardly showing signs of use. We take ours on hikes and long walks. We also leave it in the car in case of a water emergency. If you know anything about this site, you know we go on a lot of hikes. Consequently, we need to consume more water and the collapsable water bowl gives Abbey that luxury on the go.

I don’t know where you live, but we live in Texas and it gets hot. The risk of dehydration increases greatly when it’s hot outside. If your dog gets dehydrated, he/she will be in danger of heat exhaustion. Which in turn will require an immediate visit to the vet. Don’t allow your four legged family members to become dehydrated.

The Benefits

You can of course carry around any type of bowl, but there are a few reasons that make the collapsable bowl more convenient. The bowl has three different levels and folds flat. Using a carabiner, you can attach it to a harness, leash, backpack, belt loop, etc. These qualities make the collapsable bowl easier to carry around, or store. The bowl is dishwasher safe and you can use it for hiking, camping and other outdoor activities.

Whether or not you go hiking with your dog(s) on a regular basis, the collapsable water bowl provides a convenient way to keep them hydrated. It’s also a great way to feed them meals or snacks on the go. You do have to provide the water and food, of course. Abbey carries her bowl once in awhile and most people mistake it for a frisbee. It may work as a frisbee, but it’s much better used as a bowl. If you’d like to purchase a collapsable bowl, you can find one below.
